Abstract

This talk will focus on the importance of adopting an investigative mindset — especially when working across technical and non-technical disciplines. Drawing on decades of experience, Shaun will illustrate key lessons and challenges through insights from real-world cases he has personally worked on.

Bio

Shaun Reardon is a Principal Cyber Security Consultant at DNV AS, based in Trondheim, Norway. He brings global experience, having worked in over 40 countries both onshore and offshore.

With more than 45 years of experience in digital technologies, Shaun holds a wide range of cybersecurity certifications including CISSP, GICSP, CCSK, CSTP, ISO27001 Audit, and CBCI. He studied forensic computing under Professor Tony Sammes at the Royal Military School of Science, Cranfield University in the UK.

Prior to his work in the private sector, Shaun served for 26 years as a Detective Police Officer at Scotland Yard. He specialised in digital forensics, cyber investigations, criminal intelligence, and financial crime. He served in a number of elite units including Counter Terrorism, Child Abuse Hi-Tech Crime, Economic Crime, and the UK’s National Hi-Tech Crime Unit (NHTCU). Shaun was the lead digital forensic investigator in the 2006 terrorist plot to blow up seven transatlantic airliners — one of the most significant cases in modern investigative history.

Now working commercially, Shaun provides cybersecurity and DFIR (Digital Forensics and Incident Response) services to clients worldwide. He is a seasoned speaker, a regular columnist on cybersecurity for The Times (UK), and has authored numerous publications and academic papers.
