We are thrilled to announce that Rune Johansen and Eirik Nordbø from Equinor will be joining us at BSides Kristiansand 2025! Together, they will share their deep expertise and unique experiences in building a high-performing cybersecurity team through CTF (Capture the Flag) activities.
About the Speakers
Eirik Nordbø
Eirik is the team lead for Vulnerability and Exposure Management in the Equinor Cyber Defense Center, with many years of hands-on experience in incident response and penetration testing. An avid CTF enthusiast, Eirik has been active in the CTF community since 2016. He is one of the founders of both the Equinor CTF and EPT, Equinor’s own CTF team.
Rune Johansen
Rune is a cybersecurity professional with 13 years of experience, including a decade dedicated to various cybersecurity roles. Starting his career as a software developer, Rune transitioned into cybersecurity, focusing on incident response and digital forensics for several years. He now heads up the Equinor Cyber Defense Center Response team.

At BSides Kristiansand, Rune and Eirik will deliver a talk titled “The History of EPT and Equinor CTF.” This session will explore their journey from their first CTF experiences to creating the EPT CTF team and hosting Norway’s largest CTF event.
